Collision - Damage to Berth

On 29th April 2010, Vessel A hit Vessel B which was discharging cargo at Berth No.2 of Shajiao A Power Plant Terminal, causing the latter to contact with the berth (“the collision”). Vessel B and the berth suffered heavy damage, and both owners applied to arrest Vessel A. Two actions were brought against the owners of Vessel A for damages amounting to over RMB70 million.
Upon instructions, our lawyers took active measures to conduct investigation and collect evidence, and basing on which raised strong and persuasive defenses. Through our lawyers’ efforts and the court’s mediation, the two actions were settled for about RMB 20.5 million in total.
The two actions were treated as important cases by Guangzhou Maritime Court, with the vice-president of Guangzhou Maritime Court acting as the presiding judge.
