Shortage of crude oil

On 9th January 2005, a vessel carried barreled crude oil imported from Indonesia bound for Qinzhou Port of Guangxi Province. After discharging the goods, 3737 barrels of crude oil were found short-landed. After the ship owner provided the cargo receiver and his insurer the guarantee of USD 180, 000 upon their requirement, the insurer in China lodged claim against the ship owner. Mr. Huang Yaquan & Mr. Huang Hui of our law firm handled the case for and on behalf of the owner of the vessel. The case was held as one of the typical cases of year 2005 of Beihai Maritime Court, thus judges from the High People’s Vlurt of Guangxi Zhuang Nationality Autonomous Region as well as judges from each intermediate court in Guangxi Zhuang Nationality Autonomous Region attended the court hearing. Under the strong counterplea of Huang & Huang Co. Law Firm, the claimants finally agreed to accept the settlement level in the amount of USD 60,000 for amicable settlement of the case as proposed by the ship interests. |
