During April and May of 2003, a vessel carried hot rolled coils from America to Chiwan Port, China. The consignee instituted claim in the amount of CNY24 million against the ship owner and the contractual carrier on the ground of antedating of bill of lading after delivery of the goods at the discharging port. Mr. Huang Yaquan dealt with this case on behalf of the owner of the vessel. By virtue of tremendous efforts made by lawyers in Huang & Huang Co. Law Firm, Guangdong Provincial High People’s Court amended the original judgment made by Guangzhou Maritime Court, adjudging the owner of the vessel to compensate the cargo receiver CNY 19 million, which helped the ship owner reduce the indemnity of about CNY5 million. |
