On 21st January 2004, a household appliances company in Foshan city exported a batch of Microwave Oven to Germany. After the goods carried by a vessel from Yantian Shenzhen were delivered to the consignee after arrival at Hamburg, the shipper lodged claim against the ship owner and the other two defendants on the ground of delivery of the goods without presentation of original bill of lading, and claimed for a compensation of about USD 160,000. Our Mr. Huang Yaquan & Mr. Huang Hui handled this case on behalf of the ship owner and the P & I Club. Through intermediation of the court and hard negotiation with the parties concerned, and through the careful work of lawyers from Huang & Huang Co. Law Firm, the ship owner of the vessel was exempted from liabilities. Another defendant in this case paid USD100,000 to the domestic consignee as the final indemnity amount. |
